Lol @ the guy yelling about wars for oil.

Thanks for the mature and informed contribution.

You look credible sayinmg that

there isnt adequate COST EFFECTIVE grid level storage. 'greener' energy sources (solar, wind) suffer from extreme spillage of energy, and demand delivery. its too expensive to get off oil, which BTW is almost exclusively transportation related.

because there are no feasible forms of alternative energy

our ENTIRE system is based on oil

NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON was even INJURED at Thee Mile Island. I challenge somebody to tell me that shit is unsafe.

yep, and we have already started those steps a decade ago.

So people need to face reality here. Oil is needed for just about everything around you. It's going to be decades before anything can make a dent in just the automotive fuel supplies.

So it would be wiser to open up drilling in areas that aren't out of reach like the bottom of the ocean so that if problems happen, they can be fixed quickly.

Or get massively depressed even thinking about it, numbing their senses with distractions in the form of alcohol and drugs.

Which can totally be eliminated by hydroponic farming.

In fact, if the USA started investing into hydro farming, you would eliminate the need for tons of water, pesticides, have better crop yields and be able to grow 10 fold on an acre what you can grow now.

ATX is hotter and full of know-it-all college students and ugly hippies. I'll take a different state for $100, Alex

give the silly people that 'care' the option to pay extra for 'green' energy

some places do, but not enough do

No, not save the planet. Maintain an equitable exchange of ecological material in a fashion that doesn't destabilize this earth system that is capable of supporting humans.

ie don't pump carbon sequestered in the lithosphere into the atmosphere at a rate that can't be absorbed.

The most practical solution available today.

But efficient solar or fusion would be even better if we can accomplish it.

It's easier to scream for the CEO of BP's head than it is to make real lifestyle changes.
