ok...so, sometimes i see lights in the sky.they look like vertical lines of light. what

am i seeing? they appear bluish. some variant shade. they are bright, but tiny.
they linger in the sky and they do move about, but erratically.
 
Sounds like you're seeing meteorites, or 'shooting stars'. They are fairly common; you'd see a few an hour if you did nothing but look up, and hundreds per hour during a meteor shower (we have about one a month).
