Ok now I'd like some real help

So I've posted on here a few times about my situation the past month. Had all my tests, physical came back great..just had really low vitamin D. Cat scan did show I had some swelling in my right sinus areas (forehead, cheek area etc..) but ENT Dr. said it was too late??? to give me antibiotics but when he looked up my nose said it was the worst swelling he'd seen all day..he did give me astelin for the swelling but here is the thing. When I wake up in the morning I feel really good..i mean normal..perfect..when i get to work (Graphic Designer) my symptoms start to come back slowly..the severe sinus pressure and foggy head. I notice that when I drink hot tea the pressure subsides for a bit and when I eat spicey food (like i did for lunch today). So I know its sinuses up there going hay wire even though i've never had such a bad reaction before..ever...i started shots this year back in March as well and am on singulair and omnaris....what the hell is going on? should i be going back to my GP and telling him to give me something even though the ENT said it was too late..its getting crazy..i hate waking up feeling like 'oh my god its all gone' only by 5 its back in full force....though i notice on the weekenRAB its not as bad so now i'm wondering if its something here at work (two ceiling panels have been down for a couple months now)...anyone else have this? I'm thinking of starting the astelin the ENT gave me but i'm going crazy..my eyes even hurt and get a little fuzzy when the pressure gets bad...thank...going crazy here.

Well, if there is no infection the antibiotics won't help. I'd definitely get the astelin going as well as getting the ceiling tiles replaced. There is no telling what's up there that is falling down on you!

I used to have chronic sinus infections. In fact, I do have one right now. I've been able to reduce them though.

I ended up with both Astelin and Flonase to help with my nasal symptoms. I also took Allegra and Singulair and immunotherapy. They seem to be helping. I've decreased from 4-5 sinus infections per year to only 1-2.

I also got my acid reflux under control. I had no idea, but I now realize that with my LPR, I had acid affecting my sinuses as well. LPR reflux often affects people more during the day with fewer nighttime symptoms. With LPR, you typically don't have "heartburn" like other forms of reflux have.

Also, regular use of nasal saline sprays helps a lot too.

Did they prescribe a high power Vitamin D? When my vitamin D is low (like under 20) my brain doesn't process information correctly. When I stop the doses, my nurabers fall back down again, and my brain stops working, so my rheumatologist told me to just keep taking it once a week (50,000 units), forever, I guess.

The sinus/head pressure situation does sound like the problem is coming from work. Can you use a good dust mask one day at work to see if the problem disappears? If it's coming from work, you'll need to discover what the problem substance is (fumes, dust, perfume, smoke, etc.), and see what can be done to get it resolved. You'll never get well as long as you're being exposed to it, unless you start allergy shots, wear a good dust mask, or take high enough doses of antihistamine to overcome the constant exposure. Can you leave the building for breaks and lunch, or even work from home some days to get some relief? I used to have to leave work when they would lay new carpet, or paint in the building.

Another idea is to wash out your sinuses each night with saline solution, hmm, not with a neti pot, but one of those squirt bottles so you can get a little pressure and flush the dust or whatever out of the sinuses.

I have to take a 2000iu pill of Vitamin D a day for the next three months and then they are going to retest my blood. Since I cant eat fish and hardly outside I can imagine how low my D is...its only been a week so we'll see how things progress.

I am on allergy shots. Have been since March but I know it takes a WHILE before they start taking effect. I'm wondering if maybe these shots started my problem? I doubt it though.

I'm going to try that Saline stuff and see what happens. How long does it usually take to work? Also..the astelin..how long does that take to work and did it make you feel really weird in the head when you first used it. I took it last night and within like an hour my head felt really heavy and foggy....as long as I didnt move my head i didnt notice it but once i did whoa! and even this morning i feel a little off (drunk headed)....so i took a claritin 24hr instead of the spray to see how i do today...

Sinusitis is a documented side effect of Singulair. You can find this information in Singulair's prescribing information on the manufacturer's website. Make sure to read the following sections: "Adverse Reactions (including the information following the table), Post Marketing Experience (at the end of the "Adverse Reactions" section), Supplemental Patient Material". Also, a new warning has been added to the "Precautions" section regarding neuropsychiatric side effects.

FYI: Singulair has never been clinically proven the most effective treatment for allergies - or asthma.

Good luck!
