Hello,
I have been trying for MONTHS to get my Mytouch to play a movie, ANY movie and it will not. It will only play movies generated by its video camera. I've listened to everyone's advice from here to kingdom come and tried EVERYTHING they've suggested and for some reason, it's just so simple for all of them to put a movie on THEIR MyTouch and watch it but for some reason neither my husband or I can get ours to do it and we are NOT stupid. He is very good with computers and such and I'm no slack either.

So, I'm wondering what the problem here is. Is it because SOME of the MyTouch phones just don't work right? Is it because of it not having a Flash Player? And if it is how is it that others can supposedly watch full length movies on theirs without it? And why is it that I can go to TV.com and get full length tv shows and watch THEM on my phone but I can't get a stupid full length movie to play on it?

Could SOMEONE,ANYONE please answer me with an answer that actually WORKS? I'm about to throw this stupid phone out the window and go back to the dinosaur age with my old razr. At least I wouldn't be promised things I couldn't do and I'd know that all it was was just a cellphone and have no other expectations of it.

If I've offended anyone with my anger, I apologise, but if you were trying to do something as long as I have and wanted to do it so badly and everytime you tried you couldn't get the thing to do it no matter how hard you tried or what you did or who told you how to do it, you'd be mad too. And top it off, I even called T-Mobile and THEY didn't know or even have a clue as to where I could find out! I hate T-Mobile, they are so lame.

I would really GREATLY appreciate if ANYONE here could explain to me HOW to put a movie on my phone and watch it. And I am way past the beginner stage of finding out what types of files it will play. I already know that for the most part I want an Mp4 file. I even tried finding sites that had these supposedly free Mp4 movies to download, that was a lot of fun. They don't exist either!

I have tried just about every video converter out there and NOTHING works. I just got through trying the AnyVideoConverter which someone SWORE by and it wouldn't even copy half of the movie files onto my harddrive so I could put them on my phone. The next movie I tried, because I thought MAYBE it was the DVD, copied all the files after telling me there was no audio! And when I tried to put it on my phone, it wouldn't do it! I've tried so many other applications I can't even remember them all. I've gone to Utube and tried to do what the various videos there said, step by step and NOTHING. So PLEASE, someone take pity on me and tell me the truth! Is it even possible to watch full length movies on this thing or what? And if it is, what am I doing wrong, or what piece of highly secret information isn't being passed on to me? Honestly, I sound paranoid, but after about 6 months of trying, wouldn't you be?

For anyone with the fortitude and patience to read these rantings, I am grateful. For anyone who can guide me through actually getting full length movies on my Mytouch, I am EXTREMELY grateful and if its up to me, you should get a pass on ANYTHING you ever do in this life that is not, shall we say, on the up and up! LOL!

Thank you.

OK I didn't read all that, 2 questions are you putting them on your phone (on the SD ) or streaming them over anetwork?

And if loading them, what file format

Thank u for responding. I believe I mentioned in my post that I was trying to load the movie onto my MyTouch and that they were Mp4 files.
If you can help me, I would appreciate it.
Thank you.

maybe try placing them on the card using a reader instead of transferring directly to phone? bad sdcard? make sure they play properly on pc first? put the sdcard in a phone that can handle mp4 and see if they play? that would eliminate an sdcard issue at least.

Be careful with these specs... there's a whole world of difference between playing an .mp4 file, and playing an MPEG4 file. 3GP stores video streams as MPEG-4 Part 2, or H.263, or MPEG-4 Part 10 (AVC/H.264). So, specs often say stuff like "MPEG-4", that couple apply to file extensions like .avi, .mpg, .3gp, or codecs such as DivX, xvid, wmv8, etc., or containers such as 3GP, etc. It's all a right mess!

I know from reading a number of other threads on this forum, that most people seem to have success converting the videos using software like Videora.

This thread has some details: http://rabroad.com/forums/f9/what-are-you-using-to-convert-video-for-the-g1-6919/

But, the bottom line is you need to convert video files to a format for the iPhone (320x480 resolution, MP4) as that's exactly the same as what most Android phones use.

Further to that... I read the rest of your post now...

Flash is only required to play sites that host videos in flash format. For example, break.com is one such site. Don't expect to browse the web with a phone and play videos from such websites until Flash appears. You can play YouTube videos on Android phones because it has a dedicated YouTube app.

In order to play videos off the internet that you find using the browser, you must first download them to the SD card (you will need a file manager app like Linda for this, or you'll need to download them on your PC/Mac first and copy them onto the SD card), and then play them from there using the Gallery app.

You can't just click a video link and have it play on your phone.

I know you said you tried Any Video Convertor to convert DVDs to play on your phone, but this thread also says that's the way to go:

It can be a bit picky. I have a G1 and it won't play any of the MP4s I recorded on my previous phone (Nokia N95). The resolution is too high for it. That's why it's best to convert them.

Hello everyone who answered my post. Thank you all for everything. I want to comment about what extorian said. Thank You so much! You really cleared up a lot of questions for me. Since I was not having any luck trying to convert movies so I went to tysiphonehelp.com and was able to.finally download a movie! I still need to be able to convert movies so I will try the Videora program. So once again THANK YOU! I FINALLY got to watch a movie on my cell phone!!!
