ok I have a copy of silent hill 3 for ps2 but for some reason it won't work any help?

the game is brand new more or less I only ever played it like 3 times but I got stuck and quite,
I have 3 ps2's and idk what the problem is it's starts nomal say playstation then says silent hill 3 in the corner then freezes I really need help cause I don't feel like shelling out $30 for a new one.
