OK, Call Me Naive, but Who are the "Furries," and What the Hell is "Furry Sex?"?

The Furries are having their annual convention in Pittsburgh over the Fourth. I have seen people walking around in head-to-toe costumes, like the kind sports mascots wear, only cute and furry.

Then, in a newspaper story, there was a referrence to "furry sex."

Can someone 'splain to me? I'm clueless.
 
They wear animal costumes and have orgies. Comical, right?

However, a furry will tell you that they don't actually have sex, and that that's just a rumor. I say bullshit.
 
I have no idea where and when it started, but basically, it's when people dress up as animals, most likely wishing they were animals, and wishing that having sex with other animals was socially acceptable in today's society. There are "furry conventions" when a bunch of furries get together to discuss webcomics, T.V shows, and movies to do with animals. I've never been to one, and I'm glad. It's quite disturbing, and often viewed as "sexually deviant".
