i have a 1995 chevy caprice with the 350 and when its coil the oil pressure is good, but when it warms up the oil pressure drops so much it makes the "check gauge" light come on. the car leaks ALOt of oil when its hot, it leaks from the front part of the engine. the car has 147k miles, i only put on about 30 miles since i had it(i would not prefer to drive it with it like this). the engine for the most part is in good condition but i dont like oil spots. would thicker oil do the trick or some other remedy. cant afford to take the engine out to check the pump, unless there is a way to test it still in the car. need answers i give 10 points

fortunately you don't have to remove the engine to fix the front timing cover seal.
what you need is to get a puller to pull off the harmonic balancer
and install a new timing cover seal. You need to loosen the first 4 oil pan bolts.
The book may tell you to take the engine out to remove the timing cover.
That's a bunch of bs I have done it myself without having to resort to that.

manual gauge will run u about 15-20 bucks for a cheap one.....and if its leaking at front seal like it sounds like it may b that car isn't building enough pressure due to this....but more than likely motor is worn out.....either pump or rings or bearings are going bad.........

fixing the front seal isn't that hard and relatively cheap.....about 15 bucks for standard seal and about 20-25 if u need a sleeve....get a repair manual and follow the directions......
