About 6 and a half hours ago my dad was going into work for his normal time. Started up our 1997 Rav4 and the oil light didn't shut off. After he left with another one of our vehicles i went out there and checked the dipstick to see if there was any oil on it. It was clean. My dad suspects either it has an oil leak or the oil pump went out. It has around 257k miles on it. Though around 2/15 or the 16th when i turned it off from running i could smell that it was burning oil.
What could be the problem?
We'll be adding oil to it to check for leaks and to see if the oil light goes off.
