I have a 1995 old 88. Right now my car is not acting right at all. My car is making a whining noise on the left side of the engine (left if you are looking under the hood) and the temp gage goes a little above normal and then bobs back to normal. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the thermostat. I've had head gasket problems with previous cars and know the signs to look for when it comes to that. So I'm almost sure that it isn't that. The belts look good and are new. The water pump is new. My car is known for having upper intake problems. I just replaced the intake about a week and a half ago cause there was a crack in it and it flooded the engine full of antifreeze. and i had antifreeze in the pistons. And had to flush out the engine and change the oil. I'm almost sure that there isn't anymore antifreeze in the engine, it isn;t leaking anymore, and there isnt any white smoke or the smell. The car ran great for a few days and now the car is whining and isn't right... What could be the cause of all this? Could it be a bad part or did we overlook something?
my mechanic said it wasn;t the head gasket and honestly hes baffled
Honestly selling it isnt a bad idea. but either way i'm screwed i drive alot. 70,000+ is the past year alone and i cant take it and hook it up tp a computer. A mechanic who worked on the car before i had it Royally screwed up the wiring.. 2 key lock cylinders later.....
It doesn't shift hard at all. and it seems to do it when i accelerate between 0-50 if i go faster than that i doesnt really make the noise
thanks you guys triggered a thought! i know that i've had problems with my pullies that keep on my serpentine belt. i just may look at that
New water pump just a few months ago. It was going out on me a few months back and replaced it and the temp influx is very minimal. And usually during the first 15 mins or driving then pretends to be normal. Tho i know better, last time it did this i replaced my intake
