If it has been over 3000 miles since your last oil change then it is probabaly due for another oil change. It can't hurt to drive it for a little, just keep an eye on your oil level.Don't forget there are other things to check besides oil... check your coolant,power steeringand trans. levels as well.
A little prev. maint. can't hurt. Good luck.
 
I check my oil and I need to add a quart of oil. Is that bad My oil was last changed July 3 09. When I purchased the suv. Will my suv last for a while? It has 123k on it. Is it really hard on the engine?
 
How many miles have you driven it since the oil change? Does it have any leaks? Just monitor the fluid levels and keep them at safe levels. I have nursed and driven POS vehicles years after they should have been retired. It's one of my ways of recycling.

If the oil pressure is up and you havent noticed any smoke just add a quart and drive it. High mileage doesnt mean it's worn out, but it may use a little more oil than a fresh motor. Some oil consumption is normal in all engines.
