Oh the diversity?

So I am going to a show... The weird part about it is that it is Coheed and Carabira and Slipknot. I know alot of ppl may say better about one or the other but this is more about the diversity of the two. I am more into the heavy music but i dont mind C&C so bad. I have also noticed a little louder music coming from C&C I just dont like the guys voice it would be easier to swallow if the lead singer was a chick. Anyhow just thought it was a little interesting. Post any comments
 
See its like this... Lets say you thought i was awesome but you had never actually met me in person. And lets say you were a die hard fan of mine. Now lets say you finally after all these years of trying were going to get to meet me and you got to. You soon realized that the best moment to you at the time was shot down by someone you had idolized for so long. I have heard the lead singer of this band is not a nice person. That to me says alot. I understand that they get pestered alot but its the fate that they have chosen. So mainstream musicains wether they like it or not are puppets of the music industry and everything that surrounRAB it. This means that they (since we are the ones that make them money) should at least aknowlege there fans somewhat. My reasoning is as stanRAB why would you support an a#$h%^&? makes no sense to me. If its good than its good?? Id rather let you say that... There are a bunch of good things that i dont like... aka tim tebow.... case and point
 
I actually like Coheed a good deal. I think the more you hear them the more the singers voice grows on you. And by the way, they play a great live show, very talented guys.
 
So if Osama bin laden came out with a hot new hit single you would listen and because it was good?? Can you say tool??

Or do you simply think that good is always good cause if so i think that they have a pill for that.
 
I remeraber the first time I heard C&C. It was some song about a sniper or something. Fairly obnoxious. I never really tried past that to be honest. They might be a fair deal better than I give them credit for.
 
I'm seeing them in exactly one month.
I'm going soley for C&C, as they are turning into one of my favorite artists.
I don't mind slipknot, but I dont care for their image, not to mention their singer slurs his worRAB live.
 
So you're saying you don't know how to seperate song from musician? Its like saying someone who is good at brick laying all of a sudden becomes a bad brick layer once he acts like a douche.

I heard that C&C are a fairly ****y band. The lead singer thinks he is goRAB gift to the guitar. This is one of the main reasons there not in my top 100 banRAB. If they sound good live i might consider giving them a little more leway. Its just that someone who has so much should mot be a jerk to the ppl who support him.
 
But being a jerk doesn't make you bad at your trade. For instance I think Mike Portnoy is a twat from personal experience. However, I still think LTE's 2 albums are fantastic, and I wouldn't mind shelling out money to see Dream Theater. His behavior has no effect on his work, nor on his talent.
 
I get what's being said about someone being a jerk not affecting their talent / ability, even the quality of their work...


But we as human beings tend to have this sticky little things called emotional attachments and investments - sometimes we irrationally form these attachments with idols and assign characteristics to them we experience through their art (or their music, in this case)

... when we find out that some of these perceived characteristics aren't true, we tend to be repulsed by everything about them, in a reaction commonly felt as betrayal, which repulses us against everything that person does, even their music, regardless of its inherent quality...
 
What? If the music is good its good. If they were nazis who supported the killing of everyone different than them it would not change the musical quality. If it were top 100 quality without them being *******s it would be top 100 quality with them being *******s.
