Oh my fucking god

You would think that by signing up with a big-rep host, like Lycos you would get good service.
You would think that by paying $100 a year and refferring people to the company would get you good service.

Oh wait, what? "LMFAO", even my balls laugh at me now for buying that shit!

I can't believe how hard it is to find a decent host in today's internets...
PROTEST:mad:

Why would you even think of using them as a host? Try Globat. 3 terabytes of space and an almost unlimited amount of bandwith. They even have a free web template for you to use if you dont know how to web design.

Any host offering that much for anything less than a couple grand a month, much less on a shared hosting account, is grossly overselling their resources. I wouldn't trust it. My dedicated server doesn't even have that much bandwidth and space, you're certainly not going to get it with some cheap-o shared account.

A search over on www.webhostingtalk.com yields quite a a few unsatisfied Globat customers complaining about slow speeds and crappy service. I'd suggest not going with them, and doing a bit of research on your host before you pay for a 12 month contract.

Yammy, if you post your requirements I can suggest a few good hosts based on them.

At first, I would have agreed with you. they were overselling. But then they updated their systems and I have had no problem with it in the past 6 months. Pure broadband and I have had several gigs of files stored on there with none of them being deleted. They have a backup network and everything. Dont knock it. Check it out. I know you're happy with your provider, but Globat is now ranked as the top 5 host providers. Theve done well.

Read the comments... I agree with you jung, hosts like those mean trouble... talking from experience. Although I haven't tried them, so I can't be sure.

Anyway, my requirements aren't that high...
Great speed, at least 5 mysql databases, mod_rewrite, php, not a lot of downtime, fairly cheap, about 5gb of space and at least 50gb of bandwidth.

I am using dreahhost.com for my site, (thanks jung BTW)

I paid ~$50 for the address, and $9.95 a month for 4 gigs of space. Not sure about the bandwith, but I haven't had problems with it.

There are a few hosting options in this thread.

Hope this is helpful.
