True...but the ranch had a full time security, comm and trans detachment. It was as well connected as the WH. It didn't require a lot of logistical support when he went there. All the staff stayed in guest houses, it didn't require a huge taxpayer expense. Whenever Obama (or any Pres) travels on a random vacation to a new place, all those people have to travel weeks in advance and set everything up...it's a much bigger and more expensive undertaking.

The misconception is that when the Pres travels, it's just him and some USSS guys, but in fact it's a HUGE expensive ordeal.

He doesn't have to, he has tons of people to do that for him. He CAN use email, but any official messages aren't going to go to his blackberry account.
