Often smelling blood, and seeing it in my mucus

This started a little over a month ago, at first I just started smelling blood.
At that time, I blew my nose and no blood showed up which worried me more.
My mother had a stroke a while back, and one of the symptoms was smelling odd odors. She reassured me though, that its usually something burning.

About a week after randomly smelling blood day to day, I noticed I started seeing blood in my mucus. I have been seeing it every day since then, I'm not sick nor do I blow my nose a lot. I don't have any allergies that I'm aware of.

When I was younger I used to get nose bleeds a lot, and they would bleed a lot. Though this worries me because its an every day thing, and the blood only shows up when I blow my nose.

So could this be a cause for concern? Or am I just being paranoid?

Sounds like just allergy related to me. At worst, a sinus infection. Which may be why you could smell it before you saw it, all that congestion gets stuck in your sinus cavities until it works its way out. No worries, maybe some mucinex to loosen in up, but any green, dark mucus for more than a few days will probably require an antibiotic. Hope you feel better soon!

Why not talk to your doc about it? If you had bleeding noses when younger, which many times occurs due to internal pressure-some of the small capillaries could be vulnerable and may be only leaking a little once in a while. If they are visible, your doc may be able to cauterize them-or at the very least, check you out to see what the exact problem be.
Just a suggestion.:)
