*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia 6650 (RM-324 6650d-1bH) NAM 3G 850/1900

So, I woke up this morning thinking that I would delete some of the apps through the app manager in the hopes that that would free up memory space, but apparently you guys have already tried that(?!)... well, guess I won't try it then (damn you guys are fast)... I thought that maybe if you could delete Navigator, then maybe it wouldn't come on everytime I accidentally pressed the navigator button...
Skyfire is doing Alpha testing right now for its newest S60 browser and they say it should work with phones that have install problems with the old version... so I hope to be getting that up and running soon (keeping my fingers crossed)... if I can use Skyfire on this phone, then it's worth keeping... if not, then it's 50/50...
Also, I'm starting to think that maybe I got a bad phone (the ringer's not loud enough and the keypad's kind of bugging me) so I'm gonna go back to the store and check out another model to see if they're all like that or just mine...
Anyone else think the ringer is too soft even on the loudest setting? (or is it just me?)

I'm hoping that together with my HoFo brethren we can overcome!
YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN! C'mon everybody!: YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN!

It's faster than that. I just ran a speed test on it and I got 1240kbps. That was the fastest. Slowest test was just above 700kbps. I'm loving the 3g on this phone, but hating the camera. I wish my n82 had 3g. Hopefully that rumored "n85 refresh" comes soon, sounds perfect.

I'd be careful about the phone branded to T-Mobile; I think T-Mobile locks out their GPS so you would not be able to use Google Maps with the GPS function.

I had a defective 6650 last month where the GPS chip was stuck on, it'd kill the battery in 6 hours. I have a replacement now, but while I can get a GPS lock in Nokia Maps and the AT&T app, Google Maps doesnt' seem to see a GPS chip. Is this because of AT&T's lockdown of the phone, or something I'm missing?

I asked the seller "Is this phone unbranded as well as unlocked?", and this is the sellers reply:

"it says tmobile on the phone, but it does not have tmobile software

- commcentral"

???

So what does that tell us?
I'm hoping for someone more knowlegable than I, (which wouldn't take much :) ) to figure this out...

Jon

Well, just to keep updated, I tried this and everythings works ok, I change the product code to one from T-Mobile UK and the system is much more stable. Strange thing is that the only "brand" in the firmware is the Web N Walk icon (Internet) and the "Buy Music" is from t-mobile, te other stuff is the same.

I hope soon appears a debranded firmware.

Has anyone figured out how to disable the power on/off sounds? Other Nokia's have beeb able to but not this one, or not that I can find anyway!

I recently had the need to restore a backup made with Nokia PC Suite. For the most part, all went fine - except that some third party apps required re-installation.

Question - is there a program that will back up and restore *all* data - basically a quality, reliable alternative to PC Suite? My search came up empty.

My ISP has free wi-fi. I do NOT have data on my phone. Is there a way to connect to my ISP wi-fi without having to pay for a data plan? If not, it's no big deal, I was just wondering....

Sorry, didn't think it was relevant. It's an adapter that communicates via A2DP and accepts a plug-in headset, thus enabling you to get stereo Bluetooth over any old wired headset.

never mind, updated with nokia phone updater via USB. had to pull the battery to restart the phone after the update (power key did not work. i suspect magickey). ran fine after the reboot.
