Also - RF is truly excellent in traditional Nokia fashion. This rugged phone is a keeper for the RF, battery life & S60 alone, leave alone the tough exterior!

There are two places I normally lose/drop calls at with my borrowed Sony Ericsson W810i (which is no slouch itself!) - and the 6650 kept the call going flawlessly through those areas this morning!
 
Correction... I got TWO duds... I exchanged mine and the one I exchanged it for gave me the same problems... I even changed my sim card and I still had the same problems... Have you considered the 3120 classic?... It's S40 and has 850 3G which works in some areas... here in Hawaii there's 850 3G, but I don't know about where you live... It only has a 2 inch screen and 2 mpx camera but it can hold up to 8 gig SD cards and has stereo bluetooth and FM radio... if it had a a bigger screen I woulda gotten that one...
 
On a positive note... I got the video streaming settings off my 6650 by checking the settings for the RealPlayer and I input that into my 6267 so now hopefully I'll be able to stream video on that phone (haven't tried it yet though [it never worked on that phone before])...
 
If you rely on your phone for music, email, and web surfing then this may not be the phone for you. I am still evaluating mine. I have no problem committing for 2 years. So for $70, I get a flip phone that runs Symbian OS, qualifies for the MediaNet plan, and can tether.

The GPS button and all the stupid AT&T software bothers me. But running Fring and GMail Mobile makes me happy.

This is the only non-Smartphone in the AT&T lineup that I like.
 
Yes MagicKey works great to disable the PTT function. Be careful though, if you disable the PTT button you can no longer unlock the external softkeys. I use them to check text messages without opening the flip. If this is not important to you then just map the PTT button (181) to do nothing (0).

Guess the previous psts in this thread were all false about Google Maps working with this :eek:

So anyone know the diffs between FP1 & FP2? The 6290 is working back in my view, especially since the firmware will never be released w/o AT&T in it :sad:
 
So let me ask this way: I currently use my N75, and I still love it. I'd be willing to pay $70 and sign a 2-year contract to get an updated N75 that has GPS and has HSDPA rather than just UMTS.

But I can't do that; I can only get a 6650 instead. I'm a bit bummed by that tradeoff from the hypothetical upgraded N75 because I don't think I'll like the 6650's keypad as much, and I lose the FM radio (which admittedly I don't use much anyway, what with the N75's crappy headphone hookup). But I think I gain a couple MB of working memory. And maybe other features; I'm not sure.

When I look at it this way, do you think I'll like the 6650, those of you who have it already?
 
I've also had problems with the BlueTooth as well.
The headset is a Plantronics Voyager 855.
The phone has restarted once while trying to pair the two.
The next time I had a problem was after the two were paired, I speed dialed a number and the phone rebooted.
This is a problem.
I have paired the two together and used the stereo bud (music) for 3-4 hours at a time with no problems.
But it seems that the times when I need to actually use the headset, it causes the phone to reboot.
What does Nokia say about it?
"Jonathan, I regret that Nokia is not able to guarantee compatibility with your Plantronics headset as Nokia does not test 3rd party products."

I hope they release an updated FW, before I jump ship to WinMo...

Yes and no. Once you've gotten used to the keypad, I'm able to not accidentally press them anymore. With Tracker, I've got them both remapped to applications of my choice, so in essence, I have 2 shortcut keys that T-Mobile Euro owners don't.
 
As an additional data point, my 6650, purchased last Oct/Nov and still also on the same firmware (3.25) works quite flawlessly with
- Sony HBH-PV705
- Nokia BH 208
- Nokia BS 20x (older model, broken earplug, used only in the car when I forget my other one)
- Garmin nuvi 660
- Soyo dirt-cheap ($4? on Woot!) BT headset
- Magellan 4250
And pairs happily and consistently with my PC running a generic Soyo, the wife's laptop running a generic Kensington with BlueSoleil drivers and my Lenovo Laptop with Intel Bluetooth and Win Vista default drivers.

I have on occasion had to delete a pairing and recreate it (Soyo & Sony headset, once with my main Nokia) but that was always when I let the battery die or the phone otherwise reboot/crash while using a BT headset and mid-call.

The laptop has only needed re-pairing after upgarding Nokia's PC Sync

All in all, I've been super happy with the BT performance on my 6650.

Just sayin ...
 
It gave me memory errors with the Nokia browser, which was fine cuz I use Opera Mini all the time anyways (I think it's the superior browser but that's another thread)... I guess you could say I'm a power user cuz I would like to play music through stereo bluetooth and check the Internet all the time and I also was running Skyfire... but then it would also crash and restart other times I think when I wasn't doing anything... the worst part was the missed calls; calls would go straight to voicemail with no sign of missed call... and the keypad is horrendous... if you look at the Tmobile UK version, the keypad is WAY better... Sure, I might've gotten DUDS and sure, I could've put up with its imperfections... but if I'm gonna sign a 2 year contract I want a quality product... I don't care that it's cheap; I woulda paid $200 if it was a quality product... but it wasn't so I didn't... Anyways I'm getting the N79 NAM but if you guys like it then more power to you... I WANTED to like this phone, I really did... but alas...
