The official PS3 blue tooth headset works fine ! Lag is caused by your internet connection and a such it would affect your headset but the headset doesn't cause the lag.
the headset is very dependable. i have one! One of the biggest perks is that there is a HQ (high quality) mode. In this mode, your voice is much clearer to anyone who is also using an official headset. Great if all of your friends have one!
