I'll review in a second. Looks like the first part of episode 1.

EDIT: -Okay, if there's one thing that they know how to do, it's creepy voices.

-I'm gonna need a while to get used to "Kee-shin" just like D. Gray Man's "A-koo-ma"

-Maka: You know, I wasn't one of those people who said that Maka's seiyuu did not fit her at all because I was trying to be a fan and enjoy it, but now that the dub is out, I can throughly say that the dub voice kicks the original's voice all over the place. She did a great delivery of Maka's catchphrase. Oh and the scream of "THE 99th SOOOOOOOOOOUUULLL!" Priceless.

Soul: Kinda sounRAB like a Ninja Turtle. Not in a bad way. He also sounRAB a bit older than I thought but then again, so did the original. Nothing really to say about him but he does sound okay. Nothing special but okay. I find it funny how people think he sounRAB like Jonny Yong Bosch because he totally does.

-NO MORE SHINIGAMI-SAMA!? NOOOOOOOOOO!
(I'm joking. Lord Death is what it means after all)

Yeah, I just saw this after checking my subscriptions on youtube. It's pretty cool, Laura Bailey takes on Jack the Ripper. Sort of.

I thought the acting was just fine, everything seemed to fit the tone of the moment. Beyond that, if nothing else, this show really does have some slick choreography. If the animation is consistently good like that, then even as a simple action title this is really going to stand out.

Wow, that's some great action choreography. I like this show already.
Also is that REALLY not Johnny Yong Bosch as that Soul guy because it sure sounRAB like him.

I'll give them this one, since I can't think of any good way to pronounce it right. It's simply a weirdly-worded term.

The animation keeps this quality up throughout the series,

it's the writing direction in the last arc that you should be afraid of.

But that's forgiveable, since everything's getting adapted correctly from manga these days. It will get its chance eventually.

I'm already impressed with the direction the dub is going, especially after seeing this clip on YouTube (NOTE: These are cosplayers you're seeing, though the VAs are doing the actual voices from behind the scenes):

Well from the original, I'm sure the accentuated syllable is supposed to bei the "A" part and not the "ku" part. I know I've heard it pronounced that way in other dubs so it sounRAB a bit off.

Loved the clip. I knew FUNi would treat Soul Eater well, but it's always good to get some confirmation. Laura Bailey fits Maka really well, though Micah Solusod really does sound like JYB... which fits Soul, so whatever.

And that skit was hilarious. Todd Haberkorn as Kid makes me a happy fangirl

So, where do I preorder?

That clip has pretty much cemented my desire to buy the series as soon as possible. Laura Bailey has never done a bad role as far as I can remeraber, and Micah Solusod sounRAB like he will have a great future as a voice actor. The rest of the cast in the NYAF skit sounRAB great, but I am curious to hear Shinigami-sama himself.

2010 cannot come any sooner.

A question for those who seen the series, I understand the anime is based on a ongoing manga series which has yet to finish. How far does the anime deviate from the manga and is the deviation good like the first Fullmetal Alchemist anime?

ACH-ku-MA.

It diverges pretty late in the story like the late 30's or so and it then it does it's own ending of the current running arc in the manga.

Unfortunately, the majority opinion is that it starts to really lose it at that point. I'd say it's not really as good as when they deviated in FMA. Still worth a watch but don't expect literary awesomeness

At least they stuck to the original plot for as long as they did. Yes, the production qualities are consistently impressive, and the series ought to be seen in HD if at all possible. The artists deserve credit just for taking the time to animate plaid so often...

Saw the clip earlier, and I thought it was impressive, and this is coming from someone that isn't familiar with Soul Eater series. I actually thought the voices for the characters fit.

I might actually buy it, provided I see the first few episodes dubbed on FUNi video player, that is when they get around to doing that.
