I bought a 4100 in November at my former residence. I have since moved, and connected my receiver to the pre-existing dish. The 4100 works fine... except I am missing channels. These missing channels don't even exist on my guide. I have about a 80 signal strength, although I am sure this has nothing to do with the missing channels. I have already attempted to re-set the receiver.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

This thread is for 4100 owners only to post observations, questions or notes about the Bell 4100.

The 4100 is the new replacement for the 3100 from ExpressVu which includes a faster guide and Dolby digital audio.

This thread is for owners only who'd like to discuss issues with their new receiver or have practical questions about it. Posts asking about where to get it or what's it like will be deleted in order to keep the thread relevant to owners.

Software for the model 4100 is now available. It adjusts the receiver for an earlier DST change but also has fixes that should take care of audio loss.

:)

The heat is normal for this unit. I am also having these audio issues. Is anyone's audio glitching on Dolby Digital 2.0 shows? For example the music channel BPM broadcasts in DD2.0.

On the 5900 models it is in Menu, System setup (6), Installation (1), More... (9), Inactivity Power Off (3).
On the 5200/9200 models it is in Menu, System Setup (6), Preferences (8), Inactivity Standby (9). It will also invoke the screensaver during a nightly guide
update so you may want to disable that as well in Preferences, Updates (5).

well the guy in the store said it had been activated and all I had to do was plug it in...

Falcon,

I believe that your suggestion did the trick. ;) Thanks so much for replying.

On the 4100 I selected Menu, then System Setup (6), Installation (1), and Updates (6). I disabled the nightly updates and voila, this morning the stupid screensaver was not there? :p

I'm not sure if there is some other inactivity timer that starts up a screensaver, as others on this forum are discussing. However, I have not seen it as of yet.

Dave.

Mine's alright. I prefer the remote over the 6100. I like it MUCH better than my 6100. The guide is semi-new style. I gotta get a 9200 for the HDTV. :D

bought 2 4100 last october had trouble with no voice when you change channels was send two more receivers one month ago and same thing plus one of the receivers broke down one week later these receivers the 4100 are garbage went back with star choice wish I would have stayed with them

Channels you subscribe to will disappear or "expire" if you leave the dish disconnected from the receiver for an extended amount of time (days). Plug in the phone line and then visit channel 188 (the channel ordering page) and then select a channel package that you already subscribe to. If you do not subscribe to anything in the list then call up customer service and request to have the channels refreshed because you are missing channels after the receiver was unplugged for days while you moved.

I have a question on my 4100. The installers hooked the thing up through the coax cable connection. I then went back and hooked up my VCR to the audio/video connections. Later I switch TV's to one that has super VHS plug so I hooked up the STB to the TV through that cable. The big problem is that I have no more audio cannects to pass the audio to the TV. Is the best answer going to be to put y connectors on the audio cable so that I can double up on the audio connection. I see they have optical, but I don't have any thing to hook this up to.

seem to having a prob with aux scan/setting, any tricks or am i just f'n up, can't seem to scan vs entering codes???

How many outputs are on the lnb(s) you are using ? You can't just take one output and then split the signal into 4 using a general purpose type splitter. You need to give more detail on the type of lnb you are using and I'm sure members here can help solve your problem.

Whether it is activated or not it should still get a signal. Try performing a check switch if you haven't already. If both 91 and 82 are 0% signal on the same cable the 3100 is working on then you should get it replaced.

press and hold aux
press 2 for tuner/amp
press blank power button

what about * button?

wtf?

Can anyone tell me what the 4100 is worth to buy outright? I just can not stand sitting on the phone with bev. I'm looking for a receiver to connect to my pc. This looks like a good fit due to it's small footprint. Having said that, is the digital audio issue widespread?

Does anybody know if a wireless phone jack like the RTX Dual Jack will work on a 4100 receiver the menu selection for phone system setup doesn't have a wireless phone jack selection like the 3100 receiver has.
