Hi all,

I am 24 years old. I was put on Luvox about a month ago to treat anixiety/OCD. Within three hours of taking the first pill, I started having severe spasms in my lower back. I thought maybe I had slept wrong. The next day, I still had a sore back but things didn't seem too bad. That night I took the second dose of luvox. That night was much worse. I woke up and could hardly move. It was horrible. The next day I called my doctor and stopped taking Luvox. It took the back pain about a week and a half to go away completely. Luvox is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor and I read on the internet a very few nuraber of people react badly to these medications. I think I had a serotonin overload.

My doctor is now wanting me to take zoloft, although I am reading that zoloft is in the same class of drugs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) and I am afraid to take it. He told me to take 50 mg (half pill) the first 4 days and up the dosage to the 100mg after that. Should I try and see what happens? I am scared this is going to happen again.....

Thanks for any help

I don't know, Celexa and Prozac are in the same class of drugs but one made me so sick I was vomiting and the other gives me very mild side effects if any. It doesn't make sense to me either, but you wouldn't necessarily react to all of them similarly.

I have been on citalopram, paxil and Zoloft. The Paxil worked once but then stopped so I was put on Citalopram and had a few minor side effects, nothing big. Then that wasn;t working and was put on Zoloft, now 200mg, and again little side effects. Mostly the shakes but it went a way fairly fast. I was always nervous when switching or upping my dose but I never had anything bad happen. I would try it. I love the Zoloft now and the transition was pretty easy.

Thanks for the replies. :) I finally worked up the courage to try it. Today is my first half pill. So far, I am a little queasy but nothing major is going on. I am hopeful!! I'll let you know how it works!!!

I take Zoloft also, and it works well for me, with very few side effects, the first couple of days. it goes away. but doing great now. Could not take Celexa/citalopram, made me deathly sick for days and paxil gave me panic attacks, no such problems with Zoloft. So you never know........
