Off brand equate pregnancy test?

If you take an off brand pregnancy test and it does not have the "early 5 days before your missed period" thing on the box, will it still detect the pregnancy hormone 5 days before your missed period? I have been pregnant before but miscarried and now im feeling all the symptoms I felt before but when I took the off brand pregnancy test 5 days before my missed period it came up negative. Does it have to say on the box "5 days before missed period or early result" to detect the pregnancy hormone or do they all do the same thing?

I took an equate pregnancy test 5 days before my missed period. On the box it says test on the 1st day of your missed period.
 
some tests are more sensitive than others.
I used an off brand and tested positive 2 days before I missed my period. But that's probably more of an exception than the rule.
