I was borrowing my aunts car the other day. She has 2 teenage sons. It occured to me that if they smoke pot and there was some in the car for whatever reason, I could potentially be arrested for possession even though I personally, am innocent. Is this true? If I am speeding and get written a ticket for it, can the police search the car?
I live in Canada btw, where the laws are very similar to that of the United States.
if so, how can I prevent them from searching my car?
I guess what I am asking is, BECAUSE of the fact that I technically admitted to breaking the law (ie speeding) by signing the speeding ticket, does that give them the right to search my car?
