Quick history: I had surgery two years (Discectomy) and for a herniation at L5-S1. I re-herniated that level and the one above. I also have degeneration and stenosis. I do have significant nerve damage.

I had a weird feeling in my back yesterday. I laid day for the night and I had sever pain down my right leg. It was so intense that it almost paralyzes me. I went to stretch by moving my legs side to side. While doing this my back cracked three times and then the pain was gone. I have had the leg pain before, but this is the first time that it dissappeared with stretching. What could this be. Could the nerve have been pinched and stretching just released it? I do see the doctor in a few days, but I was curious what this pain was from. Anyone experience this before?

Definitely sounRAB like something shifted and when it cracked it decompressed the nerve. How scary!! You were very lucky that the pain subsided and did not increase. It sounRAB like your vertebrae is experiencing some type of instability. Have you had a recent MRI?

Thanks for the response.

I did have an MRI last october. It showed the hernaitions and DDD. There was no instability that I was told about.
