Occult books and Dangers involved?

I've recently come into possession of a copy of the Necronomicon, and although its pages state that the "sorcerer" or user of the book are in little to no danger, I've read otherwise on websites that feature info on the Necronomicon. Got any success/horror stories? Or is the whole thing just for fun?:
 
That's something i myself havent gotten into but ive heard from others that its not something to play around with that its to be took seriously
