Obscure Music

Post the most obscure music you can think of, I want to hear it. Any genre.
Please be sure to post d/l links.

I've posted a thread about the most obscure band I can think of, Greduction Stimulus. I want to hear more music that will make people go.. "what?".

This doesn't mean you should post every indie band in existence on here, just some little known gems that you happen to be in possesion of.

EDIT: I'd also like to add that I'm looking for parent-friendly music, if possible. So just write along with your post whether its family safe or not ;)

The guy's artist name was Bushtaka, he operated out of Ft. Lauderdale when I lived there in '04...really weird stuff. He gave me a CD but it fell through the gap between my hand and the garbage.

I have a good amount of obscure Canadian stuff that I've found over the years. One of my favourite groups is The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets from my hometown of Vancouver. They do punk rock music but most of their lyrics take inspiration from author H.P. Lovecraft. They put on a great live show, all dressed up in different outfits and it's just some good fun music to listen to.

Money.

You can post stuff thats not, just tell me if it's explicit. I'm sure other people will want to come to this thread looking for obscure stuff.

Anything, any sound and any genre. I might like it, I might not.. I'm just trying to discover some music that I probably won't hear anywhere else.

cause he wants his parents to go "what?"...

come here do you just want strange weirdo stuff like what CC posted, or are you looking for actually enjoyable tracks that are just less known?

If you actually took the time to listen to John Zorn you'd probably still hate it, but at least it's music that challenges and takes you out of your comfort zone. Comfort zones can be drab, stagnant places.

Go and listen to Fuschia or something; obscure and reasonably challenging whilst i cant see it offending your parents too much. Above all though, the s/t is great.

Not just yet. It's really interesting the way it's broken up.

I think it's just the fact that you get to hear some great music that not many people know about.. I love the standarRAB as much as anybody but for me it's just about discovery.

Nope rubbish, there are numerous reasons why some music may be obscure. For example, the music created may not fit into a template that allows for classifcation, ie Savage Republic didnt quite fit into post-punk nor did they quite fit in with alternative/college rock, so they went largely unoticed. Like it or not, an artists music stanRAB a much better chance of being noticed if it can be identified within a genre/movement/scene. Furhermore, an artist may release material themselves or on a tiny label that only allows for ultra-limited release and little if any promotion.

Mountain Ash Band is also probably the most parent friendly band in existence, your parents will like it more than you.
