private companies out of business.? If we do not stand up and write our congressmen or call the White House and say no, then what? Do you want socialized medicine in our country or keep what we have? We already have the government in the Auto and Banking business, etc.
EDIT: TEACHINF....YOU ARE TOTALLY RIGHT AND THESE PEOPLE NEED TO WAKE UP! THEY NEED TO READ YOUR ANSWER..AND CHECK IT OUT..
I DO NOT WORK FOR INSURANCE COMPANIES, NOR AM I A PR FOR ANYONE EXCEPT MY FAMILY.

85 PERCENT OF THE PEOPLE ARE HAPPY WITH THE CARE THEY ARE GETTING NOW..WITH THEIR OWN INSURANCE COMPANIES, ETC,

The private sector can not compete with government because they can print money and make all the rules. Also I have played Rugby all around the world and Americans will not like the waiting time which is customary in most countries.

You are full of prunes, dear poser...the health care reform bill allows insurance companies to compete still, but introduces a public plan (with a firewall in place) that covers the lower income people your insurance companies would not want anyway. If you are an insurance lobbyist trying to block any attempt to restrict your billionaire bosses' access to the pigout fests at the money trough, maybe you should back off, take a deep relaxing breath, and remember that you are an American first, and a lobbyist second. Do what is in the best interest of the American people. Or maybe you are with the pharmaceutical industry whose Washington lobbyists outnumber our elected representatives 4.5 to 1...what's the matter, big boys...can't handle a little competition? A public plan with a firewall would function something like subsidized housing, with income restrictions---people too poor for your insurance bigwigs to be interested in having as clients. What's the problem here? Hey readers, this is a lobbyist asking I bet...hope you don't fall for the hype and hysteria. You know, lobbyist, more than 70% of our citizenry WANTS universal health care.

No, you will still be able to purchase private insurance. They would only go out of business if they are not competitive in the marketplace. Perhaps this will bring down their premiums and the consumer will benefit all around!
