Fuck man, Obama's leading in the latest polls, getting more than half of the popular vote. That must mean that we're over 50% unemployment Economy must be worse than the media is letting on.

But in all seriousness, I think that election day SHOULD be a day off from work. It's getting easier to vote with early voting and just about anyone being able to get absentee ballots in certain areas (my parents got absentee ballots so that they don't have to worry about voting around their work schedule). Still, you always hear how "sad" it is that only half of the population voted, but I'd like to see how those numbers changed if people didn't have to worry about work on election day.

Yep. People think it makes them sound intelligent. What it means is they have no answers and so little understanding of the issues that they either don't know who to support, or they are naive and think Libertarianism or Green Party are viable alternatives.

The system is far from perfect but it won't improve without people being engaged in it and educating themselves on the issues.

You may know the issues (maybe not), but a look at the voting records of both major candidates speaks volumes about their real stances vs their "platform promises".

Neither is trustworthy. If you believe everything you read on Obama or McCain's website, and form your opinion thusly, you are not getting the whole picture.
