Obama policy on education-longer hours, shorter summer?

So today I was talking with my family and my step mom brought up Obama and some policy thing he's trying to pass. From eight in the morning to five thirty at night was what she said were going to be the new school hours. And the summers would be two weeks long. I am a freshman, and I love school, but that is intensely way too much. What are students supposed to do on sports? go to school for 9 hours and then do another 2 hours of practice. Then do homework? this is the most STUPID thing i have ever heard. So is it true. Is he really trying to pass this, because if so, he needs to go back to school and see how hard it is already. Hes a retard.
 
First off the moron in the white house is getting push back from the Unions who actually want to shorten the week. But to keep the schools open longer during the day, week, and year means that the tax payers will be funding this and it will cost us a huge amount of money. This country happens to be in a bit of an economic slump. Don't worry about Obama, he's just another idiot left wing lunatic who talks without engaging the brain.
