If Apple wants to run itself into the ground by discouraging open source,
then they have the freedom to do just that. Nobody is being forced to use their product.

On a side note, isn't it also illegal to modify an X-Box 360; which if done, also voids the warranty.

Does Apple have the legal authority to require developers to use their software for product development? The law is the problem.

How are smartphones any different than consoles? They are both computers.
