Counter cyclical spending can help stabilize an economy. It can be effective and stimulative efforts from Obama's administration has done some good, the question is at what future cost? The problem with the US is we are always in perpetual deficit, we should be running counter cyclical spending deficits during recessions and surplus during economic expansion. The problem right now is the prior and current debt coupled with massive counter cyclical spending is crowding out some private sector investment. Additionally, it appears that this crowding out will likely become more prevalent as interest rates rise beyond 2012. This will have a significant affect on GDP growth. Most economist estimate that the debt/deficit by 2015 will have a .7 to 1.0% drag on GDP as we move into the latter half of the decade.

Mitt Romney actually has a very firm grasp on monetary and economic policy, you may not like him, but when it comes to economics/monetary and fiscal policy he would likely push the country in the right direction for sustained long term growth.

the main thing was that it didn't include a public option, at least i don't think it did

who's pretending? he is president of the united states, not a manager at a CVS. i guess he missed the part of the job description that said "THIS JOB IS REALLY HARD AND STRESSFUL"

i don't want to hear it. sorry rookie from chicago didn't get handed the 1990's US with a booming economy with tons of growth

but yet despite his shitty canvas, he continues to make it shittier.

but shit how can a president be wrong that takes the time to have beer with his black friend and a cop to try and settle "racial differences" over a matter where his buddy was an uppity faggot? or how can anyone say he's a shitty president when he takes time to fly overseas and lobby for chicago to get the olympics

Yeah just throw more money at the problem and hope it goes away. Good job failbama.

it was an example retard. And yes, the average american today is in white collar, maybe not high level but certainly putting on khakis and sitting in a chair all day. Psst, a lot of those laid off are in the tech sector, they got hit hard. Hell even the more blue collar jobs aren't really fit to jumping into the few available construction jobs because they have no experience.

Why hire someone with 0 experience when there's 20 guys in the unemployment line that know how to run heavy equipment ?

It pisses me off the media jumped all over the cop, then it turns out the professor was a bitch and the cop did nothing wrong...media doesn't touch it again, doesn't retract anything, doesn't apologize for their bullshit...nothing...

Biden doesn't need to do shit, except be capable to fill the shoes of the president should something happen. Which he is.

How do you think McCain would have handled things differently? Do you think he would have allowed the automakers to fail, no bailout? What about the banking bailout. Surely being a member of the Keating Five would have given him some experience on how to handle that.

Tell us what McCain would have done better. Go into as much detail as you like.

McCain was the only possible alternative to Obama, so there's no sense in trying to backpedal away from the McCain/Palin ticket now.

Automatic stabilizers are good if they're temporary. But we can have an infrastructure commission, something we already need, ensure that projects are ready or can be rapidly implemented should the need arise. It would not be difficult to do this, it just requires proper management of projects, which requires competence in government

graveyard of empires. the british, soviets and now US all beaten by a bunch of backward ass cave dwellers.

They did create jobs, or moved up jobs from future dates. This does provide some benefit, it is one of the areas that the stimulus package in general got it right. Investment in infrastructure is one of the few areas where government spending and even deficit spending make the most sense.

he's helping the country so much that I'm emigrating. That hope and change is really working

the media loves drama. a white cop doing his job isn't a story. a white cop being a racist fuck is a great story

and i can't believe the fucking president got involved with that. what a fucking crock of shit.

if bush had done that same thing they would sackride it as bad as the mission accomplished banner
