O(forum)T- LifeDrive

I am a lion.

Only reason I'm posting here is b/c I know this is where the pro's are (and the LD forum has not produced good results for me):

I may be answering my own question here but ........

I just bought a LifeDrive to replace my T3.

I'm getting all sorts of crazy (LONG) resets and nothing seems right. This is the second one in two days I've tried. I am loading some third party app.'s but checked with the developers first to make sure of compatibility.

I'm thinking at this point to HARD RESET and just go with all of the factory installed stuff (and DateBk6 ..... which is basically all I need).

Does this sound reasonable? I really don't want a TX and have some accessories already for the LD. Is it too much to ask to have this puppy work with just the basic's installed?

Certainly DateBk6 should run like a champ on it??

Any advice for me people? Has Palm really created this terrible of a monster (as many of the other boards seem to say)? Or will I be safe and happy with my new LD with just the basic's?

Does anyone have one that would be willing to share what THEY have installed on theirs and have it running stable? There are just so many app.'s I would LIKE to install but I think I'm risking it with ...... one of them is MobileWrite.

Anyway, sorry to post such a long-winded sob-story here but I'm at my wits end with this LD but don't want to give up hope ...........yet.

Syno

To me, and this is just my 1 1/2 cents, but what makes a palm yours is the third party software you put on it. To pay the cost of a life Drive, and can only put Datebk6 and that is it, well........... I still have my trusty T2 and it has been working fine for as long as the T2 has been out. It has many third party programs on it with no problems. May be I am the lucky one that got one built right. If I had to replace it I would go with the TX. You should not settle for just the basic life Drive. Heck you could have gotten a basic Zire and saved money. I wish I had a live drive to help you. Sounds like you need to get another one or just get the TX. Good luck, Russ

What's up Ibanez,

Yeah ........ I'm gonna give it one more college try this week. I think (from what I have read), I may be trying to "overload" the LD with too many programs all in one day. Seems that it needs to slowly "integrate" everything. I'm going to get one more, set it up, and then slowly add programs during the week. If that doesn't work, I'm resolved to thinking this thing IS truely just a disaster. I just can't imagine that it would still be on the shelves if it was THAT bad.

On Monday I'm going to post a list of software that I had TRIED to load on the LD and see if anyone can tell me some definate compatibles or non-compatibles.

Still waiting to see if Moose has any other feelings since he first tested the LD (and seemingly thought it was great stuff).

Cheers,

Syno

I know this is off the subject, but do you know how to erase the blocked pop up log. It says I have 392 blocked. How do I erase the 392. Erasing cookies doesn't work.

Well said. I didn't respond to syno's OP because I am NOT a LifeDrive owner. However, the lad's "rut" seems to be turning into a cravass. As much as I want to hang on to the T3 or find a spare "in case," I miss the old hacks on my M505! Newer just means worse. Period. It's only the TX that seems like it would do "most" of what the T3 does (and admittedly with the advantage of permanent "landscape") - but useability is what it's all about.

I actually USE the plethora of programs on my T3. Daily. Often. And there are a lot of 'em. More storage at the expense of useable programs just wouldn't cut it for me - 2GB cards are cheap now if all you need is "storage." Storage of what? It's the neat 20-80k "archaic apps" that just work for me on the T3 - and without those I wouldn't use a Palm at all. I don't care if it's a LifeDrive JX9Million.

Syno - I'm assuming you could return that unit if it doesn't do what you need - you're the boss - it's your tree and you're sitting in it. I'm pretty sure you've made a definitive list of what it absolutely needs to do, and are not just cramming every app in creation on there for the "sport" of it. If it does not meet that criteria of a minimal "must do list" - dump it. Quick.

The reasons you haven't found any help on the LifeDrive forum are, I suspect, that a) there aren't too many owners (at least for long!), and b) even less "power users." Now I know why - nothing will work on it and it's untweakable - or that "little spinning hard drive" has by now gone into orbit around Venus.
