Hi, I want to use nutmeg in my cooking but ive never used a whole nutmeg before, only grounded. Do i ground all of it? or the outer layer? Because there is a thing in the middle isnt there.
You will love freshly ground nutmeg. They make a little grinder that looks like a pepper mill and you toss a couple whole nutmegs in there and yer good to go. It shaves off small thin slices in little pieces. Otherwise you can use the funky part of your cheese grater. Or a nutmeg grater, they make those.
