Numbing gel during sex. Does it work to reduce sensitivity so I last longer?

My girlfriend is very tight and I want to know if I can use a numbing gel and put it on my most sensitive part (tip) so I don't come as fast.
I want to know if i put numbing gel on the head and ring under the head of my penis and then I put a condom on will it reduce my sensitivity to help me last longer?
