Numb hands

When my fingers start tingling, I just change the way I grip the throttle when cruising (doesn't work for shifting.) I pull my hand back so only my fingers are gripping, using the first pad of my thumb on the near side for throttle control.

I also wonder if the gel padded fingerless gloves I'm using just put too much pressure on my palms. Just bought plain leather gloves to try.

i found that when i ride with back support (pushing me closer to the bars/tank) my hands don't get numb...

when i'm more stretched out, i get the tingle in the left arm... my right has cruise control and i use it :)

You need to look for the source of the vibration. Could be engine or wheel out of balance or out of round. If it has spokes, that is one thing I would check. You can twist the handlebars up or down until it is comfortable. If it is the engine, could be one plug is fouled, valves are out of adjustment, plug wire need changing, or fuel injectors dirty. I swear by Sea Foam. It is a mild cleaner that mixes with the gas. With a bike you might get three treatments out of one can. I would do it at least 3 times. If you take off the original grips, you loose the weight on the end that is suposed to dampen the vibration. I wish I had kept the originals, you also loose an inch and a half on the length of the grips.

Sorry to resurrect on old thread, but did you get this solved?

I used to hurt in the shoulders and hands when riding until I put risers on the handlebars. I think I was putting too much weight on my hands and shoulders in the factory riding postion. Raising the bars eliminated the problem for me. I only wish I had bought taller risers and raised it a bit more.

I had numbing hands because I have gout and arthritis in my hands and wrists. I read somewhere that changing your handlebars and adjusting your riding position will help tremendously. This is my 8th bike and I have installed new taller handlebars which help to keep my arms parallel to the ground. I also added a throttle lock (Vista Cruise) and new rubber gel-filled grips. I did 600 miles this past weekend and my hands are tingly - but not numb and swollen liek before.

I'd suggest changing your handlebars, getting a vista cruise, and checking with your doctor.
