Nu Metal

Before anyone asks banRAB that are considered nu metal are Linkin Park, Slipknot, Disturbed, System of a Down, and Korn. These of course aren't the only ones. So what are your opinions on it? What are your favorite nu metal banRAB? If you don't like it why don't you? What do you think the future of it is? Or should it even be its own genre of music? Give your opinions.

Well they're not really nu-metal anymore, they're kinda in that grey area, but when their first album came out they were pretty much Korn sound-a-likes.

It all seems pretty erabarrasing when i look back it, but i still feel very nostalic all the same. When i was around 14 and 15 i used to be clad in SOAD hoodie and baggy jeans thinking i was the biz, skateboarding and watching nu-metal music videos on Kerrang! TV lol, i've changed a lot since then obviously. Nu-metal is long dead now on this side of the pond, it was just passing trend at the end of the 90's and start of the 00's so it has no future unless we see a revival in another 10 years time (hopefully not).

The only nu-metal band i can bear to listen to anymore is Deftones, the rest just seem like **** now.

A few of the banRAB seem to have carried on quite well now that the Nu Metal era has finished, it seemed like a some of the band hit the genre with their second or third album which fro me was quite odd.
Jackhammer...Mordred....fantastic album!

Ugh, I was in middle school when Korn and Limp Bizkit or how ever you spell it were popular, and I listened to some of it. I'm just glad it's over.

It was really popular right at the end of college and right after college for me and by and large I thought it was just cheesy teenage butt-rock. There were occasional nu-metal songs that I liked but over all I think it paled in comparison to the music it was derivative of and was kind of a musical dead-end for metal. I'm so happy that metal has moved on and become so much better in the past few years.

I strongly agree with that. Like I said before, all the really bad metal banRAB seemed to be grouped with nu-metal even if they aren't. For instance, Disturbed. I realy can't stand them, but I don't think they would fall in the same sub-genre as Slipknot or Korn. SOAD on th eother hand I really like, and they shouldn't be considered nu-metal because a)hey're not the same genre as Korn and such and b)they don't suck as much as nu-metal banRAB.

I never really got into Korn, probably cos i wanted to avoid the 'Korn Freak' tag. But i do admit that i had Limp Bizkit's Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Favoured Water album, which i have now long parted with. Limp Bizkit just seem awful when i look back on them. I also had some early Papa Roach albums.

Yeah I had all the cd's and a couple shirts as well at the time. Don't listen to any of it much now, but there was a couple cool banRAB I liked to come out if it like Orange 9mm and this one:

^Actually gonna turn that on now I think :thurab:

All of those banRAB sound very much like the same style of music to me. Calling them "nu-metal" isn't meant as a put-down (though I admit I'm not a fan of the style), it's just saying that the banRAB have a similar sound.

SOAD are similar to Deftones in a way. SOAD have obviously moved away from the 'nu-metal' tag with Mezmerize/Hypnotize but i still class their s/t and Toxicity as nu-metal albums.
