Hi Some books have good advice and some not. Some of the books on the market are written by excellent doctors some are well experienced and others are not. The more books and or researched sources that seem to agree with each other on a particular food the better. One liked one cost me plenty and benefits the others.

In my opinion if some food blocks a windpipe of course it would be harder to breathe. Also if stomach aciRAB get into the lungs from backup, regurgitation or vomiting in my opinion it could cause scar tissue of the brochioles or other structures and make it more difficult to breathe.

I do get short of breath with just a short distance, I haven't noticed that to be due to my reflux but I guess there is always a possibility. But the breath holding thing, no big deal, I start breathing right after it happens, it's just annoying, it occurs every day, and more frequently where my tummy pain is worse. I also have a hiatal hernia but I really don't know what kind of symptoms comes from that or if it can make gerd worse. My doctor never treated me for it, just diagnosed it, and that was it.
