our soldiers if they implement take no prisoners rule ?

If so, will the American attitudes towards the military become more like those back in the 1960’s, and history will repeat itself.

Since there is no 'take no prisoners' rule, soldiers would be in violation of rules of war if they did so. Are you forgetting the fact we have other prisons?

Closing GITMO is a sound financial decision. It takes taxpayers' money to fly suspected terrorists to Cuba (a relative Caribbean haven compared to the solitary desert environment of Iraq), and intern them there indefinitely. Who says we don't have holding centers on-site? (And they're called holding centers, not prisons. Please be politically correct.)
It's a lot easier to transport them to *location undisclosed* where we have easy access to them.

Closing gitmo is the wrong thing to do and partly for just what you are saying. It will reduce the incentives for our military to take prisoners when they know these prisoners will be treated as "guests" and no firm attempts will be made to get vital information from them.

In essence, obama is saying, "you go put your life on the line for our country and I will sit in the safety you are affording me and undo all your hard work."

In a war scenario, there is nothing stopping American soldiers from capturing and detaining prisoners. What is at issue here is the fact that the treatment of those prisoners should abide by the Geneva convention, and that torture should not be an option.

Those are war crimes. We have to respect them if we want the same.

We voted against the Cowboy Politics.

You cannot just go into a place, shoot & kill and terrorize at will and then call yourself a hero.

This is NOT a television show, real life and with that you have to act humanely.

No. Just because GITMO might be closed, that doesn't mean there are (or will be) no other military prisons for terrorists.

The military did just fine before GITMO, and will do just fine after it is closed. Obama is simply righting a wrong. You do realize most military personnel want it closed, too, don't you?

As for the "take no prisoners rule" the soldiers will do as they are ordered and I do not believe they will be ordered to kill when not necessary.
