It seems like we are going to have a new Robin Hood film in 2009 however a bit different according to this on Dark Horizons:

"Director Ridley Scott and actor Russell Crowe are set to team for a fourth time on Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment's drama "Nottingham" reports Variety.

Crowe stars as the Sheriff of Nottingham in a revisionist take on the Robin Hood tale, with Nottingham as a noble and brave lawman who labors for a corrupt king and engages in a love triangle with Maid Marion and Robin Hood.

Universal bought the script by Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris a while back with Crowe attached at the time, but Scott's involvement only emerged over the weekend.

Production will start next year once Scott wraps up work on the DiCaprio CIA thriller "Body of Lies"."

I cant see there being a Bryan Adams song with this Robin Hood film though!

Nottingham sounRAB very interesting if this piece of news form Empire website is true:

"Ridley Scott is a big fan of Russell Crowe, so much so, that for his next flick, he's apparently giving the Aussie actor not one but two roles.

On the promotional trail for their latest collaboration, the political thriller Body Of Lies, Scott has let slip that his long-gestating revisionist take on the Robin Hood legend, Nottingham, will feature Crowe in a dual role as the legendary robber-of-the-rich-and-giver-to-the-poor and his sheriff nemesis.

Speaking to MTV's Movie Blog, Ridley Scott said: "He's playing both. [Crowe's dual roles would be] "a good old clever adjustment of characters. One becomes the other. It changes."

In terms of what that actually means, we've yet to discover. It could imply Scott intenRAB to remake Fight Club in a forest, but we reckon the idea is that the Sheriff of Nottingham created the persona of Robin Hood to tackle those evil-doers who live outside the law (kinda like The Dark Knight for medieval times).

If the latter's the case, Scott has potentially come up with a storyline to invigorate the oft-told legend. And with his old mucker Crowe doing the double, we could be in for quite a treat with this one."
