Notifications sound problem

Hello, I need some help here.

I put a ringtone for my notifications so when I get a sms it sounds. But the problem is, it doesn't sound when I recieve a sms, but when I recieve an e-mail, it does sound.

What's the problem? I have already tried ringdroid.
 
Depending on what android phone you have but with my cliq xt I just go in to my sms app settings, notifications and check the appropriate boxs for ring tones.
