Local Republican stalwart Willis Lee has been providing updates from the Republican National Convention in Tampla, Fla., where the Hawaii GOP has sent a contingent of officials.
Excerpts:
Stick around a couple minutes, the weather will change. After a couple beautiful days, hurricane watch. With the delegates arriving, NOTHING is dampening (pun) the excitement and their spirit. …
Isaac moving away for now. Keeping an eye but not expecting any schedule changes. States suggesting to delegates still at home to bring ponchos or rain slickers. Friday was beautiful. Saturday turned to squalls later in the afternoon. The humidity is relatively (no pun) low. …
Friday night, about seven of us went to 717 South Street or something, I wasn’t paying attention. The sign said Polynesian-Italian cuisine (?).   They had escargot on the menu. Mainlanders enjoyed the “pupu” menu item (they understood the food, not the word). …
Meanwhile, in spite of the storm, the Hawaii GOP was scheduled to host the Hawaii Delegation Caucus Monday (Aug. 27) at the Sheraton Suites Tampa Airport Westshore. Special guest speakers: Wyoming Senator John Barrasso with Ben Romney, son of presumptive GOP presidential nominee, Mitt Romney.
