notepad won't sync after Palm Desktop rollback

I upgraded to the latest Palm Desktop 4.1.4, but didn't like it so I tried to rollback to 4.10. All works fine except Notepad. Here's the error message in the log:

Note Pad conduit cannot synchronize with the Note Pad database on the Handheld, because the version of the database on the Handheld does not match that expected by the Note Pad conduit.
Note Pad synchronization failed
Conduit 'Note Pad' Error: Unknown error. (FFFF)

Interestingly on my Desktop (which is where I'm having the problem) notepad.dll says it is version 1.5, but on my laptop it is 2.0. The Palm help people haven't helped. I'm stuck. tia, Lee
 
I'm not certain when the Palm desktop started handling the larger notepad files but here is a suggestion that might help.

Go to the Palm Desktop - from the Tools menu select options then click on the tools tab and then run the "fix corrupt" files option.

If you have added any records which might exceed the 4K limit of the notepad records - then you may have to split them on the handheld into a couple of different notes.
