Mom of Ethan and Sophie

I always see on here that many moms quit breastfeeding because their baby wouldn't latch on. Why does this only happen with breastfed babies? How can a baby not know how to latch onto a breast but can latch on okay to a bottle nipple that is basically the same function?
Just curious.....
I didn't have a problem breastfeeding, we did great. Ethan nor Sophie had any problems latching on at all. I just saw a post and this thought popped into my head. Like I said, I'm not starting a debate. I just wanted to know why it only happened on breastfed babies.
EDIT: EML, thank you. That's all I wanted to know. I just wanted to know "mechinically" how one was different then the other. I didn't attend a breastfeeding class and didn't know.
In no way did I try to offend anyone by telling you you had to breastfeed and you were a bad mother if you didn't. If you were offended by this question, then obviously YOU have some guilt issues. I was asking about the physical aspect of this.
