I have been experiencing constant wheezing, coughing with a chest discomfort. I do not have asthma and I have never been diagnosed as having as this is the first time I feel this.

Last night was the worst...the wheezing was bad, my husband said I coughed all night, dry cough(and I use a cpap)...today it's the same with also chest discomfort. I almost went to the ER last night.

Are these the symptoms of asthma? I do live with 2 yorkies that have never triggered allergies.

Should I see my dr. or my pulmonologist?

I would start with the pulmonologist since you have one. It could acid reflex also along with several other things.

It certainly sounRAB like it could be asthma. It is always good to see a Pulmonologist to help get an good asthma plan in place. It often takes a while to get an appointment though. I suggest seeing your regular doctor for some immediate treatment if you can't get an immediate Pulmonology appointment.

If you have serious trouble before then, go to the ER. Breathing is nothing to mess with.

Either your doctor or pulmonologist would be able to make an accurate diagnosis of asthma, but if you already have a lung specialist, I'd definitely go with the specialist.
Asthma will be diagnosed with medical history, discussion of symptoms, and possibly breathing tests such as spirometry. If you're seeing a pulmonologist, they may have a spirometer in office and you could be diagnosed much quicker.
