Not sure how to wear my hair for the military ball!?

I am going to a Marines Ball in a few weeks. I was thinking about making an appointment with a hair salon down there to get my hair done, but I really don't have the money for it. Does anyone know any simple hairstyles, that would go with a nice evening gown? I'll only have a flat iron, curling iron, and some bobby pins. It needs to be something easy, and something that will stay put.
I have long dark brown hair, its about 2 inches past my shoulders. There are a few long layers, and I have subtle side-sweep bangs.
 
Do a French twist clip it in with bobby pin and finish it with the curling iron to the loose ends.

It's simple and quick and you can do it yourself. Google or YouTube "French twist for hair" and I'm sure you'll solve the problem at no cost.

Have a good time at the ball. I'm an ex-military guy myself. Don't let all the brass blind you (they're just people too).
 
Is there a Beauty College there where you could at least have your hair washed and styled? Would only be like $5 or so.
