So I go bowling with my girlfriend and a few friends, we play for about an hour and a half and my girlfriend leaves with a friend when we left. The next morning I go out to my car and find this:

2004 Mazda 6 that I drive like an old lady for the most part and I'm told if I have my insurance fix it I won't be able to afford the new prices. This fuckin sucks...

Thats not too bad. You could possibly pull most of that out with a good strong suction cup or a plunger if you tried. If not, got any friends with a slide hammer and that you can trust to not rip your door off the hinges?

It doesnt look so bad to me. I dunno. Maybe its worse in person but it looks like with a little bit of self-done work and some touch up paint, it would come out looking alot better than it does now with out turning it into a bodyshop or insurance company.

Also to anyone lookin at it, looks like someone just backed into his door a lil. Probily one of them fuckwads that hit someone and think "Well no one saw that, i can just go and not leave a note".

I don't think it looked that bad either but it's something that would obviously stand out if you saw the car parked on the side of the road. My dad had something happen to his car recently and it was very similar to this sort of Hit and run incident. It's sad how people don't even bother to leave any form of insurance or at the very least a note.

Dude... i totally feel your pain on this... when i bought my first car... i took real good care of it... and in a one week period my car was hit and run 4 times. Now there is a big hole in the front right bumper. The front left sid equarter panel is dented in, the right rear quarter panel is dented in and the right rear passenger door is smashed in. I didn report any of it to my insurance company because i feared a hike in the rates.

But the thing is... why else do you have insurance? Also... i found that dong most of the repairs out of my own pocket wasnt that bad. I got a bumper and a quarter pannel for 170... and the rest that is needed is around 400. My deductable is 500... so i figure if i just pay it out of my pocket i save lots.

Then again.. im a gearhead so doing the work isnt that hard... and its free. If i were you i would find a friend that can set a door and shop around for another door at a junkyard. Keep your old door for spare parts and have your friend set the door for you. Shouldnt really cost you more than 600 bucks with no labor costs. Then you can save about a grand dependant upon what stage paint you have on your car and get the whole thing painted. Overall... you're looking at about 1800 dollars.

Price the labor, parts and paintjob if you were to take it to a shop... then ask yourself if a dented door really bothers you. If it does and it is mad expensive (IE more than i may have listed) then just let your insurance take care of it.

Californian sizzles!

I have nothing to say to you except this...HAHA!

Na, I'm just fuckin'. Usually when an accident happens in a parking lot, there is at least one witness because there is always at least one person in a parking lot. Perhaps you should have asked around...too late now. Hope insurance will take care of it, gl. :happysad:

I agree with Relorian on this one. Fixing it yourself would be pretty easy. The crinkles right there might be a little hard to manage, but other than that he's absolutely right.

Who in the world is your insurance company man? I remember back when I had my cherry red 1985 RX-7 Mazda. Some fuckwad gave it a hit and run on April Fools Day while I was working, so I called the cops that day and reported it to my insurance company the next day. Fortunately an eye-witness saw the hit and got the other guys license plate #. However when I went back to the insurance agancy they said the person who did it was a 16 year old kid with no drivers license who took his moms car without permission. I thought I was screwed, but my insurance guy told me that he'd just report to the main office that they couldn't find the driver, and they'd do the fixing without raising my rates. Farmers Insurance was my insurance company by the way.

I'm 18 and don't pay for my own insurance, and the person that does told me flat out I wasn't allowed to report it. Granted that person is a total dumbass, I'm going to ask around a bit.

But theres no way I can suction this out, its punched in about 4 inches and right around the handle too. I kinda doubt I'll find many junkyard parts either, doesn't seem like the kind of car you'd find very many of.

Get a slidehammer or find someone with a stinger dent remover. Seriously you can fix it yourself easier that reporting it or payin for it professionaly. Also call around to wrecking yards, you never know whos got what and its a hell of alot cheaper than a new door. I know this personaly because the family car is a 2002 mitshubishi and the door repair on it for a dent like that was around 2 grand (insurance rules when someone on the same insurance hits you).
