Not hotsync'ing contact list

Perhaps I am just too new at this, but I just cannot get my Contacts list on Outlook 2003 to sync with my T3.

Everything else syncs ok.

I have gone to the HotSync Manager/Custom settings to make "Contacts (Outlook)" and "Address book (Outlook)" set to Desktop overwrites Handheld.

Here is the error log:

-----------------------------------------------------
Outlook Contacts
OLERR:11-000A
OLERR:0D-000A
OLERR:0D-0004
OLERR:0D-0001
- Desktop overwrite HH Sync
Outlook Contacts synchronization failed
OLERR:15-0002
OLERR:01-0001
------------------------------------------------------

I'm really stumped with this.

Thanks!

Well, I will have to categorize this under the "just reboot" category of fixes (as in, it works and I don't know why).

I noticed that I had no difficulty in transferring my wife's contacts to my Palm. So I did the following:

1. Exported my addressbook to a CSV file.
2. Created a new Outlook profile named "Palm".
3. Imported the CSV into the "Palm" profile.
4. Redirected the Outlook Contacts conduit to synchronize with the "Palm" profile --> Success.

So I finally had a copy of my Contacts (which were actually transferred from my trusty old HP 200lx via CSV as well) on my T3. Whew.

I have no idea why it would work for all other profiles but not my own. I was ready to transfer all of my other files (mail, calendar, etc) to the "Palm" profile, then rename it. In a rare flash of "brilliance" (confusion), I then redirected the conduits to my original profile again.

Success.

Everything synchs correctly now. I can't explain why.

Terry,

You probably had a corrupted Outlook contacts folder. Exporting the contents of the folder and then importing them again cleared up the corruption. Sometimes this can be non-visible control character that gets put in a contact and that makes the sync stop working. It's very possible that you inadvertantly imported the problem from your DOS based HP 200lx.

For those of you having trouble.....I'd suggest just checking the following:

In Outlook with the folders view click on the Contacts folder then right click and choose properties. Under the General tab be certain that the option to "generate microsoft exchange view" is checked.

Also, the only folder that the T3 or any Palm will sync to is the default Contacts folder. If you are attempting to sync to any subfolder you will have to get a secondary program such as Pocket Mirror Pro for the T3.

The above is just a thought that I remembered from some years ago.
