Long Way To Happy

I've noticed that in general people with cars don't take into consideration those of us who don't.
There have been numerous times at jobs or in college classes where someone will ask everyone:
"Did you find parking okay?"
"The beltway was so backed up. How long did it take you to get here?"
"How much did you pay for parking?"
I've also noticed jobs that will sometimes require an applicant to travel to locations that aren't near the workplace to attend an interview or meeting.
I had one job that required me to travel to another county just for the job interview. After I got the job I then found out that the training took place at a hotel on the other side of the town I live in, which was a two hour bus ride. The crazy part is that they didn't even offer food or beverage. I felt so left out when everyone would hop in their cars for lunch and jet off to a good eating place while I could only walk to McDonalds or Taco Bell.
I once worked at a Starbucks where if we wanted more hours we could work at another store. I didn't quite understand why I would need to work somewhere else when the location I had chosen was close to where I live. Of course the only people who could take advantage of this where the people who drove, so I was always broke.
I know this isn't a big deal for some of you, but I would like to know what you think anyway.
Not everyone has a car, so why do people/employers act like it?
I don't choose to not have a car. I can't afford one because all of the good jobs are in areas that are too far to travel to by bus or walking.
I am being unconventional because I am not fortunate enough to be able to afford a car?
