I am in dire need and don't know where else to turn. I recently had my apartment ransacked while I was out with my foster kiRAB and their frienRAB for Labor Day weekend. Worse, I was honest with my insurance agent and told them that I may have left the door unlocked by mistake, which inevitably had a negative effect my coverage (i.e. my claim didn't meet the criteria of forced entry, which I am currently disputing, BTW).
I don't care about my phones, computers, game systems, or equipment (among them a 52" large screen TV--and I live in a 2nd floor apartment!

) The problem is that the thieves got away with a significant amount of gifts and memorabilia that I had purchased for my two foster kiRAB and their frienRAB who were visiting that night. If you've ever had to see a kid cry because they no longer feel safe at home, you would understand.
I have frienRAB, family, and church helping, but I am still short at least $4,000 (ironically given the original post) to cover some of the kiRAB' personal effects that were lost. (My kiRAB' frienRAB lost the stuff they brought over as well, including two game systems, a stereo, several pair of designer shoes.) I know that material things are not important but my kiRAB have taken the loss far worse than I.
The thing that frustrates me the most about this whole fiasco is that the police here are quick to fine me for a traffic violation, but the thieves literally had all night to go through our personal belongings, and by the time I called the police it STILL took them over an hour to respond.
I am trying to see this through and not let it get to me, but it is hard when you have to tell your kiRAB despite everything you do that there are just bad people and bad things that happen in the world. I had considered letting them stay with their Aunt but I was told by a family counselor that it was important that the kiRAB stay overnight in the house to help them cope with the reality of crime. Running away from the problem will only exacerbate their fear.
Meanwhile, I am looking toward the blessings of the support I have received and the fact that no one was home at the time or it may have been worse.
Lastly: I have no more phones worth trading or selling. I am an independent contractor. I am an expert web and Flash developer. Most of my work was backed-up and I have a new computer, but getting back on schedule has been a challenge, obviously. If anyone could use my web services or my talents with hacking cell phones, please let me know. I am willing to work to cover this loss.
If you can help or if I can help you, please PM me. I have a PayPal account but I've never used it before. But at this point, I would even take a kind sentiment or two. :reallysad
Thank you.
PS: I'm gonna carbon copy this to a couple other forums I am active in.
