what are some banRAB that got popular, but in reality, had more of an image, or a trademark than they did talent?

or vice versa. what were some banRAB that were really good, but never really caught on.

my pick would be saosin. they were awsome, (by were i mean the original saosin. theyve changed a lot) but they never really got big until recently.

anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Korn I think... Ill probably think of more later, but Korn are the first that spring to mind. They were shown to be these GoRAB among music, and I just cant see whats so special about them..

Hanson. they were supposed to be something of the alternative to BSB and NSync. and now that I'm older they definitely weren't all that great.

this is going to be a controversial choice. but really cant see the big thing musically with the ramones. definetly more of an image band to me.
other banRAB that were definetly more about image and iconic staus thm music were the sex pistols (except glen matlock- come on now, the clash , the fall and buzz****s were the only real musically talented british punk groups of the 70s/80s), happy mondays, slipknot (despite the fact i actually like quite a few of their songs), the darkness, most of this new wave of gothic- nu metal ****e..i'll think of more later

Frightmare have alot of talent but I don't see them catching on anytime soon.

A band that cought on quick but were pretty horrid = KoRn. Probably the most annoying band on Earth.

i did say almost...i also saw this show where a hispanic actress in portugal or that area became an artist and she sounded like she could be good, forgot her name though....

Definetly agreed with The Sex Pistols, all image and less talent. Even God Save the Queen is more popular for its controversial lyrics than the music.

Limp Bizkit. Was all about the image and 'rollin' (or just waving your hanRAB in the air looking like a prize twat).

The Pogues, okay so they say Magowan is a gifted songwriter.. but would you really listen to them if they weren't Irish? Even then, a couple songs too many on St Patrick's day and you really do wanna drown yourself in your pint of guinness.

The original Snow Patrol never really caught on, yet they just became huge which was weird.

And my favourite indie rock n roll image band - Franz Ferdinand all met in Art School... there's a surprise. Wanna see my Franz Ferdinand badge?

see this is an over the top band-you-love-to-hate mess made of a perfectly decent band, overhyped yes, but ****s sake they werent bad, i saw them live and they did a reat job and apart from chad krogers dismal lyrics i thought the music itself was just as fantastic as they're live performance, there is nothing wrong (imo) about Nickelback.

The Misfits had more of an image and trademark then talent.

Nausea had alot of talent but havn't really caught on.

Aside from them writing boring music? Nickelback are by no means talentless, but they do write some bland songs and seem to recycle alot of ideas they used in other songs. That aside, they do know how to play their instruments well enough to be writing something worthwhile.

they remained to be a very influential punk band though..one of my favorites.

letterkills got big pretty fast....but they arent all that great.

the original saosin never really got big....but when they had anthony green and pat mcgrath.....that band was amazing.

Definitely nickelback. They are a garbage band that should be getting booed out of high school gymnasiums. How they got famous is a mystery to me.

Also any teenage pop boy band crap that get the 13 year old girls in a lather. Their not worth the cd's they're recorded on.
