Not a question but a rant about the pets section of YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

I wish people posting questions here would use the search function, use their common sense or do a internet search. Every day there seems at lest one of the following questions:

1)how do I house train my dog
2)how do I convince my parents to buy me a puppy
3)at what age can I take my puppy out for a walk
4)someone asking a question that only them as the owner would be able to answer
5)someone asking questions that only a vet would be able to answer
6)someone asking question that a 30 second internet search would answer.

Sometime it is nice to get other people opinion. Sometimes they need reassure they are doing the right thing. If you don't like the questions you don't have to answer them. Yes you can get some answers doing a google search but web site can be very impersonnel and general by getting people to answer your question you get more personnal answers .

Its the same with all the sections, people are too lazy.
How do I get a paper round
My tax is too high what do I do
My mother is bleeding to death
and so on.

I can understand what you mean, but my main problem is with people asking questions about basic care *after* they already have the pet in question.

To be honest, if people used the search function or internet searches - there would be no YA!

Plus the people on YA are not qualified to answer anything more challenging or specific than very basic general help and advice.

I can't help but feel that people that actually have genuine experience and advice to give about the specifics about dogs would not be on YA!

They would be spending their time on specific forums and volunteering for breed societies. That is why snobbery and pompousness on this site make me laugh - if they were so great, they wouldn't be on YA!

I'm under no delusion that while i try to answer as best i can if i have an *opinion* that my opinion is no more valid than anyone elses because really this site is all about the blind leading the blind.

I suggest that is what you do, search for a forum and society and put your apparently vast knowledge and experience to actual use.

It's the nature of the beast I'm afraid. People are lazy!! I know how you feel because I do get very tired of answering the same qs. over and over. In fact I'm now turning to the next q. unless there's something specific being asked.

It's a bit like hitting the off button if something gets to you really ....... lol

Ah,the dread 'search box"...........why use that when you can get your bored lonely kid's mail box filled w/chat from your peers in ignorance?
Even the brainless ubiquitous "Why do dogs lick?" has 14,887 hits!!!!!!
But no,you are SPECIAL & so's your lump of a dog.Right?

May I join in your ranting?
These things get under my skin on YA in general, especially in the pets section.
1)Those who give negative ratings because they don't agree with your opinion.
2)People who troll and ask bad questions just to light fires under other people's seats.
3) Those who give very very bad advise, not out of ignorance, but just because they can, or to possibly hurt someone else.
4) People who argue against something proved many times over, even when a simple web search will confirm or deny the point being argued.
5) People flaming each other to the point of destroying an honest question.

I was just talking about this. It's absolutely ridiculous. I seriously wonder what goes through their minds. "hmm my dog is coughing up blood / having a seizure / ate a whole packet of headache tablets. Vet? nah. Yahoo Answers will sort it!"

The people make me so angry. I swear to god there should be an aptitude test for people before they have pets. In fact it not only makes me annoyed, it makes me sad. Sad for the poor creature in these people's "Care".

And Wolf, I agree wholeheartedly. What a community, eh?

You forgot
Why is my dog Eating poo? &
How much should I feed my dog?
(Although for that one you only have to look on the side of the packet!)

hold on, you just asked a stupid question, how may times a year can i breed my dog! why don't you go look that up, better yet don't because there's no point in you breeding, when ya having a clue
